Buddhist Precepts - Kai
Upon Ordination (Tokudo), a Tendai priest has undertaken three sets of Buddhist vows, comprising the Endokai (or "The Precepts for Perfect & Immediate Enlightenment" ). These vows consist of:
The Juju Bosatsu Kai
(or "Ten Major Mahayana Vows")
The Shijuhachi Kyo Kai
(or "48 Minor Mayayana Vows")
The Sanjujo Kai
(or the "Three Ideals of the Bodhisattva")
