MYOU HOU RENGE KYOU NYORAI JYURYOU HOUGEN
THE WONDERFULLY-PROCLAIMED LOTUS SUTRA
THE VERSE IN PROCLAMATION OF THE BUDDHA (III)
O- A- Sou Gi- Kou
Thus, is the Root Buddha among us,
Jyou Zai Ryou Ju- Zen
Present for all time, from atop Vulture's Peak as well as<
Kyuu Yo- Sho- Jyuu Sho
Within our very homes here within this world.
Shu- Jyou Ken Gou Jin
Though sentient beings may (one day) all perish,
Dai Ga- Sho- Shou Ji-
And the (world) be consumed in the Great Fire,
Ga- Shi- Do- An Non
Here within this (Pure) Land shall we dwell in peace.
Ten Nin Jyou Jyuu Man
The Most HeavenlyLord Buddha, Fulfillment Eternal.
On Rin Sho- Dou Kan
(Here within this) garden forest, we of the identical rank,
Shu- Jyu- Hou Shou Gon
Possessing various treasures of solemn (nature),
Hou Jyu- Ta- Ke- Ka-
Among the flower lands of various treasures,
Shu- Jyou Sho- Yuu Raku
This becomes a Pleasure Land for all sentient beings.
Sho- Ten Kyaku Ten Ku-
Various gods, beat upon the heavenly drums!
Jyou Ki- Shu- Gi- Gaku
Dramatic music shall fill the skies,
U- Man Da- Ra- Ke-
(With) lotus mandalas, like a rain,
San Butsu Kyuu Dai Shu-
Scattered by the Buddhas and common people alike.
The verses translated have been adapted from two Japanese volumes dealing with the Lotus Sutra; The Tendai Sutra Collection and The Teachings of the Lotus Sutra, both Japanese originals.
The verses were liberally translated with additional submissions by Jion Prosser.
