MYOU HOU RENGE KYOU NYORAI JYURYOU HOUGEN
THE WONDERFULLY-PROCLAIMED LOTUS SUTRA
THE VERSE IN PROCLAMATION OF THE BUDDHA (V)
I Setsu- Butsu Tan Ji-
For indeed, it is difficult to perceive a Buddha,
Ka- Chi- Riki Nyo- Ze-
Something like my Very Mind Wisdom,
E- Kou Shou Mu- Ryou
Enormous (as a) Keen, Shining Light,
Jyu- Myou Mu- Shu- Kou
Existing without and (uncountable),
Ku- Shu- Gou Sho- Toku
Mastering the Paths and manifesting in this very place.
Nyo- Tou U- Chi- Sha
You, one of wisdom,
Motsu To- Shi- Shou Gi-
Dispose of the doubts you still possess.
Tou Dan Ryou You Jin
In one fell swoop - cast them off-
Butso Go- Jitsu Bu- Ko-
.The words of the Buddha (are not spoken) in vain.
Nyo- I- Zen Hou Ben
Grasp hold of the Great Doctor's expedient means,
I- Ji- Ou Shi- Ko-
And, as is treating a mad child,
Jissai Ni- Gon Shi-
and although he says (he will surely) die,
Mu Nou Setsu Ko- Mou
Explain to him (as false) the extremity of his view.
Ka- Yaku I- Se- Bu-
Likewise, I am the Father of this World,
Ku- Sho- Ku- Gen Sha
(And) shall save all from their various afflictions and miseries.
